Hugo Arrambide (ARG) – Chimbote in Luzern 1966

Hugo Miguel Arrambide (* September 25, 1927, † April 25, 1985) was one of Argentina’s top show jumping riders. His best horses were Chimbote, Camalote, Ministerioand Mio-Mio. He won Argentina’s National Championship in 1965 and 1966 on the temperamental Chimbote, in 1972 and 1973 on Camalote.

Hugo Arrambide was also a very popular regular participant on the big classic European show jumping arenas in the 1960′s and 1970′s. In 1965 he won the Grand Prix in both Aachen and Rome on Chimbote,  and in 1972 he won the Grand Prix in Lucerne on Camalote. He also won bronze in the  European Championships in Lucerne 1966 after Nelson Pessoa, Brazil, and Frank Chapot, USA (this was the last year that the European Championships was open for all nations).

Arrambide represented Argentina three times at the Olympic Games. In Tokyo 1964 he was 17th in the individual competition on Chimbote,  and Munich 1972 individual competition he was 22nd on Camalote.

Johan Heins – European Champion 1977

Dutch rider Johan Heins began his career as pupil and rider at the Alwin Schockemöhle stable. Later Heins worked with Leon Melchior. On Seven Valleys Heins won the gold medal at the European Championships both in the  individual and the team competition in Vienna 1977. At World Championships in Aachen 1978 he took silver on Pandur Z with the Dutch team. In 1981 he  won the bronze medal on Larramy with the Dutch team at the European Championships in Munich.
