Happy Birthday to Graham Fletcher – 61 years today!

Graham Fletcher (* January 9 1951 in Yorkshire, England)  was one of Britain’s leading showjumpers in the 1970′s and 1980′s. With great horses such as Buttevant Boy, Tauna Dora and Stylo Wilkie he won countless international honours. He is brother-in-law of David Broome, who married Elizabeth Fletcher.

Fletcher was the leading rider of the 1970 Horse of the Year Show. He entered the British team in Rome, Fontainebleau and Aachen in 1971. In that same year he won the Dublin Grand Prix on Buttevant Boy. He made a clear round in the Hickstead Derby in 1974, coming second after Harvey Smith. In 1975 he took a great victory on Buttevant Boy in the Aachen Grand Prix.

He participated in the Olympic Games in Montreal 1976 on Hideaway. At the alternative Olympics in Rotterdam 1980 he won a team silver medal on Preachan.
