Happy Birthday to Hendrik Snoek, 64 years today!
Hendrik Snoek (* April 2, 1948 in Münster) was one of the leading German riders in the 1970′s and 1980′s. He was only 20 years old when he in 1968 managed to ride his Dorina to a great victory in Grosser Preis von Aachen. In 1972 he won the Hickstead Derby on Shirokko. On Rasputin he was part of the German team that won the gold medal at European Championships in Munich 1975. The following year he was the German reserve for the Olympic Games in Montreal 1976. He became German Champion in 1977 on Gaylord. In 1984 he took the victory in the Dublin Grand Prix on Palma Nova.
Snoek won many puissance classes in the late 70′s on his high jumping specialist Rochus. He took many Grand Prix victories; Aachen 1968 on Dorina, Donaueschingen 1969 on Feiner Kerl, Münster 1970 on Feiner Kerl, Rotterdam 1972 on Faustus, Donaueschingen 1973 on Rasputin, Geneve 1973 on Rasputin, Hertogenbosch 1974 on Rasputin, Rotterdam 1975 on Gay Lord, Dortmund 1976 on Rasputin and Donaueschingen 1976 on Gay Lord. He rode 36 Nations Cup’s for Germany. Snoek ended his career as show jumping rider in 1989.
